Risa’s story
You may have seen Risa out and about fundraising and collecting donations at train stations across Brisbane.
Risa has just reached her one year milestone with Guide Dogs and her favourite part is the feeling that she is helping to make someone’s day just that little bit better.
“It’s wonderful seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they see the dogs at the station in the morning.” She said.
For Risa, having a disability of her own prompted her to reach out to Guide Dogs and generously offer her time to support others.
Alongside fundraising, Risa also helps to organise mail outs in the warehouse.
Again, it’s the atmosphere that Risa enjoys and the feeling of community you get from volunteering alongside other passionate individuals.
“The camaraderie and the atmosphere is just amazing.” She said.
It is volunteers like Risa, who enjoy selflessly giving back to the community who make such a huge impact on their community and make it possible for Guide Dogs to continue to offer our vital services.
