Paw-some new mural in Bald Hills

November 17, 2017

Have you seen the vibrant new mural on Linkfield Road adjacent to our Breeding and Training Centre in Bald Hills yet?

The mural is based around the theme of “If you can see my cane, I can’t see you”, which aims to promote road safety to assist people in the community with low or no vision.

Busy roads, especially those with high volumes of traffic, can be daunting to cross or walk alongside even with full vision. While we work with our clients across Queensland to teach them skills they need to travel safely and independently, we rely on members of the community to help us by being mindful and aware of people with low or no vision on the roads.

As you travel on towards your destination, the artwork aims to remind everyone to keep in mind the safety of people with low or no vision around the road.

We thank you for taking extra care when you see a member of the community walking alongside or crossing a road with a cane, a Guide Dog or another assistance device. Make sure you check out the new mural next time you’re near our centre and let us know what you think!

This initiative was funded by the Queensland Government Community Road Safety Grants.
