Wendy and Guy’s story

For Wendy and Guy, volunteering with Guide Dogs for the past five years has been a very fulfilling experience.

“We just find every part of our involvement with Guide Dogs very special.” Wendy said.

Between the two of them they have been involved in a variety of roles across the organisation from boarding dogs, driving clients to their classes, attending charity golf days and collecting money at train stations.

They just finished boarding stud dog ‘Quinn’ and have been boarding dogs back to back for a while with Wendy joking that their house was like a “revolving door”. But they adore interacting with the dogs and don’t mind leaving their door open to any Guide Dog who needs a place to stay.

“We don’t mind helping out at a moment’s notice and we just can’t stress how lovely everyone is at Guide Dogs and it’s why we keep coming back.” Wendy said.

Both Wendy and Guy generously give their time to help wherever they can, spreading positivity as they go.

For them, volunteering with Guide Dogs is a way to give back. Wendy explained that they first started volunteering with Guide Dogs because of a friend of theirs.

“We have a friend who has multiple disabilities and one of them is vision impairment and we just wanted to find a different way to help out the wider community,” she said.

It’s volunteers like Wendy and Guy who make it possible for Guide Dogs to continue to offer their vital services to people with low or no vision.
