Thank you for making our Vet Clinic dream a reality
The doors of the Vet Clinic officially opened in March, thanks to your generous support which has turned this dream into a reality.
An on-site Vet Clinic has long been the goal – not only offering the very best healthcare to our dogs, but also as a way to significantly reduce the costs associated with external veterinary clinics.
Guide Dogs Queensland Veterinarian Dr Dion Humbler said the final pieces of crucial equipment he needed to open the Vet Clinic were being installed, following what he called a ‘Christmas miracle’.
“We had the shell of a building, which was a big step towards a Vet Clinic, but we still needed everything for fit-out,” Dion said.
“I was completely overwhelmed by just how much you supported the project and helped make this a reality. We would simply not have been able to purchase everything from beds to an X-ray machine without you.
“Every time a dog has a life-saving operation, or is saved the stress of travelling to an external vet, I hope you realise just how meaningful your gift is.”
Long-term supporters of Guide Dogs Queensland, Ray and Coral Trestrail matched gifts made prior to Christmas with a very generous $50,000 to help get the Vet Clinic to the ‘finish line’.
“Your incredible support, combined with the Trestrail family’s generous matching of donations, means our dogs now have the very best care right here on-site from even before they are born and throughout their journey.”
A substantial grant from Hand Heart Pocket, the charity of Freemasons Queensland, was the first stage of turning an unused part of the Bald Hills Nursery and Training Centre into what would eventually become an exceptional Vet Clinic. We want to also thank Kelly Gray from SPARC Architects, Cassie Eivers from Bootooloo Property who project managed the build, and the McNab team who generously donated a lot of their time to complete the project.
