Suppawter wins big for his generosity
Kevin Edwards hasn’t owned a car of his own for the past 10 years, but last week a lucky win recently saw him drive out of Guide Dogs Queensland in a brand new Hyundai Tuscon.
As a long-time supporter of Guide Dogs Queensland, Kevin has always purchased lottery tickets with no expectation of winning.
“I buy these lottery tickets and think of them as a donation to Guide Dogs. The fact that I have won something is just a very large added bonus,” Kevin said.
Kevin was so sure he wasn’t going to win that he didn’t believe the person on the other end of the phone when they called him to share the exciting news.
“I just didn’t believe it. I asked whether the clapping in the background was staged,” Kevin said.
Assured that the clapping was real, Kevin finally accepted that he had won and made the decision between the gold bullion and the brand new car, eventually choosing to drive away in a new car.

In the past Kevin has also won a few cases of wine through the Guide Dogs Lottery, which he has kindly used as Christmas gifts for friends and family, but joked that he won’t be gifting his new Hyundai Tuscon anytime soon.
“I haven’t had a car of my own in 10 years so I’ll be keeping this for myself,” Kevin said.
It’s the generous support from people like Kevin who make it possible for Guide Dogs to offer life-changing services to Queenslanders with low or no vision.
