Governor’s Walk
This month Guide Dogs Queensland were invited to participate in a special community bushwalk at the Fernberg Estate. Hosted by Government House and in partnership with Health and Wellbeing Queensland, this event was a fantastic opportunity to advocate for individuals living with low vision or blindness.
As August aligns with both Queensland Walks Month and Guide Dogs’ national fundraiser, PAWGUST, it was inspiring to see so many people come together to support our mission. The 1.1km walk through the scenic bushland was not only a celebration of fitness and community spirit but also a crucial moment to raise awareness and funds for Guide Dogs Queensland.
“Reflecting on this event, it’s clear how vital it is to champion a healthy lifestyle and ensure that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity and freedom to engage in physical activities like walking,” commented Guide Dogs Queensland CEO, Jock Beveridge.
“Accessibility and inclusivity are fundamental to our mission and advocating for these values helps create a more supportive and active community for all.”
Guide Dogs Queensland extends a heartfelt appreciation to Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland for her gracious support and for hosting this significant event. Her commitment to our cause and to the community is deeply appreciated.
We are also grateful to everyone who joined us for this occasion, including Client Ambassador Santiago and our dedicated volunteers. Your participation is crucial in helping us advance our mission and provide essential support to those living with low vision or blindness.
