Bridging the Gap

Accessible Queensland 2032

Bridging the Gap to 2032 is the flagship strategic initiative led by Guide Dogs Queensland. It unites a series of targeted advocacy, community engagement, and awareness-raising activations designed to accelerate accessibility and inclusion in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As Queensland prepares to welcome the world, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape our state to be both accessible and inclusive. This campaign positions accessibility not as a compliance requirement, but as a shared community standard that benefits everyone: clearer information, safer streets, intuitive design, and stronger community connection.

The campaign will commence with a Kangaroo Point Bridge Walk on the eve of International Guide Dog Day.

Launch Event

Clients, dogs and supporters will walk the Kangaroo Point Bridge in a powerful show of visibility a landmark GDQ helped co-design in 2020.

This walk reinforces the principle that an accessible world begins with inclusive infrastructure.

The Story Bridge will be illuminated in as the Guide Dogs; participants walk across the bridge symbolising the journey toward connection and inclusion.

International Guide Dog Day

An annual milestone celebrating the intensive training and life-changing partnerships between clients and their new Guide Dogs.

Experience Accessibility

An immersive sensory experience in partnership with Grill’d Toowong, inviting the public to dine under low-vision conditions.

Community Call-Out

A statewide initiative where Queenslanders nominate businesses that meet accessibility benchmarks in physical navigation, communication, and service.
