Recently, our Principal Advisor, Jeremy Hill, had the opportunity to attend the South Pacific Educators in Vision Impairment (SPEVI) conference, where he hosted an engaging interactive stand. The exhibit showcased low vision simulators, mobility aids, and valuable services from Guide Dogs Queensland, allowing attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by people with low vision and blindness.

The very next day, we were proud to be part of the 200 Years of Braille celebrations at Brisbane’s Post Office Square. Our stall featured exciting tactile activities, including the fun “Ping Pong Braille” game. Children had the chance to use ping pong balls and egg cartons to create Braille characters, sparking their curiosity about accessibility and Braille literacy.

The event attracted a diverse crowd, from children to adults, and the hands-on approach to learning about Braille led to important conversations about inclusion and awareness. The interactive activities highlighted the significance of accessibility and the role it plays in supporting the low vision and blindness community.

We are excited to continue our mission of educating the public and empowering individuals with low vision, providing them with tools to navigate their world with confidence and independence.
