This year’s Bridge to Brisbane event showcased an exceptional participant, Lay, a dedicated Client from Brisbane, who embraced the 10km challenge despite her journey with low vision.

For nearly two years, Lay has thrived within the Guide Dogs Queensland community. “I have enjoyed making new friends and learning new skills,” she shares. Her passion for staying active led her to this charity run, marking her first experience as a charity runner. “This is a golden opportunity to raise funds while being active,” Lay explains.

Reflecting on the event, Lay said, “It was an exhilarating experience. Just hearing all the cheers and having the support of so many people as I was running was incredible. I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to do something I love while impacting the lives of others through the funds raised.”

The donations raised through events like Bridge to Brisbane are vital for individuals with low vision or blindness. “I am thankful for the support,” Lay emphasises. “These funds create a safe environment for us to learn and grow.”

Lay’s journey is a powerful reminder that with determination and the right support, incredible achievements are possible. We congratulate and thank Lay for bringing us along on her journey and for demonstrating that the spirit of perseverance can indeed bridge any gap.
