The Brisbane Broncos have joined the pack at Guide Dogs Queensland, throwing their support behind PAWGUST, one of the biggest national fundraising campaigns on the Guide Dogs calendar.

PAWGUST is a major fundraising initiative for Guide Dogs, having raised $6.7 million over the past six years with all proceeds going towards delivering impactful services to those living with low vision or blindness.

The campaign encourages people and their dog to set a target distance to walk or run throughout the month of August, while fundraising for Guide Dogs along the way. Participants have the option to walk on their own, with a friend, or build a team – and this year you don’t even need a dog to join the pack!

Guide Dogs Queensland CEO, Jock Beveridge, said he was very excited to host both Billy Walters and Jock Madden at the Guide Dogs campus this past Monday, for the official launch of PAWGUST 2024 in Queensland.

“We couldn’t think of a better partner than the Brisbane Broncos to help us launch this exciting campaign and we thank both Billy and Jock for helping us kick off the campaign with seven-week-old pups, Vinny, Vixen, Veena, Vesper and Rufus,” Mr Beveridge said.

“Guide Dogs has been transforming the lives of people living with low vision and blindness for over 60 years, and PAWGUST is a fantastic opportunity for Queenslanders to show their support,” he said, ““Furry friend or not, all Queenslanders are encouraged to register and take up the challenge this August.”

“Funds raised go directly towards the delivery of a wide range of services for people with low vision or blindness, including orientation and mobility training, occupational therapy services, counselling and mental health support, and of course, the breeding, raising and training of our amazing Guide Dogs,” he said.

Thanks to our official supporters of PAWGUST, the Brisbane Broncos, there are some ‘pawsome’ incentive prizes on offer for those who get in early and register by 20 July – including a ‘Money-Can’t-Buy Broncos Game Day Experience’ and double passes to the Broncos v Eels game in August. The full list of prizes can be found here.
