On 1 November 2021, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young PSM was sworn in as the 27th Governor of Queensland and representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queensland’s Head of State.

Her Excellency and her husband, Professor Graeme Nimmo are proud to serve all Queenslanders.

In recent years, Her Excellency has emerged as a key figure for Queenslanders. In her former role as Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, she guided the state through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, in her role as Governor, she will work to help unify and promote worthy organisations which aim to improve the lives of Queenslanders. This includes using a platform for advocacy to provide patronage to a range of organisations in Queensland.

We are pleased to announce that Her Excellency has accepted the invitation to be Patron of Guide Dogs Queensland. Her acceptance continues the long association of our organisation with the Queensland Governor.

We’re excited to head into 2022 with Her Excellency’s support, as we work towards the goal of empowering Queenslanders with low vision or blindness to achieve independence and inclusion.
