Valuable Funding

There are thousands of hard working Collection Dogs all over Queensland and their income contributes directly to the support and services for Queenslanders living with low vision or blindness.

We receive around 15% of our funding from the government and rely heavily on the generosity of individual donors, supporters and businesses. Everyone who “feeds” one of our Collection Dogs through making a donation is making a positive change to Queenslanders living with low vision or blindness.

Did you know, all of our Collection Dogs are Golden Labradors, labelled with the Guide Dogs Queensland logo, our web address and phone number? Any other coloured dogs in Queensland belong to another organisations.

Could you provide a home for a Collection Dog?

All you need is a little spare space on your counter or floor at your business or workplace, and we’ll provide all of the maintenance and support you need.

Small Collection Dogs. Our small Collection Dogs are designed to sit on counters in convenience stores, newsagents, butchers, bakeries, pharmacies, vet clinics, groomers and any other small businesses. Being only 28cm tall, they are the same height as our precious pups when they are just four weeks old!

Large Collection Dogs. Our large Collection Dogs are 85cm in height and are perfect for high volume traffic areas like in supermarkets, clubs, pet shops, stores and garden centres. You’ll need spare floor space in a populated area to give one of these guys a home!

Why host a Collection Dog?

  • You’ll be showing your support for a local cause that makes a difference in your community
  • Collection Dogs grab the attention of your customers (especially the dog lovers!)
  • We provide all of the maintenance and regularly collect and clean the dogs.

Collection Dog Maintenance

Our collectors present an official Guide Dogs Queensland identification badge before removing the dog or any of its contents. After the contents are counted, an appreciation letter and receipt is supplied. This letter can be displayed to show your involvement to the community and to thank your customers.
