Guide Dogs Queensland is proud to now offer Orthoptics as part of our holistic support services for people living with low vision. Orthoptists are eye care professionals who diagnose and manage a wide range of functional vision issues and conditions, working to enhance how you use your remaining vision in everyday life.

Whether you’re experiencing eye fatigue, tracking difficulties, or challenges with reading or navigating, our Orthoptists can help assess your visual function and recommend practical solutions, often in collaboration with your ophthalmologist or our Orientation & Mobility and Occupational Therapy teams.

Larissa Byass

With over 20 years of experience, Larissa has worked across clinical practice, research, and assistive technology consulting for Humanware. She brings a depth of knowledge in supporting people of all ages to achieve greater visual independence.

Townsville & Far North QLD

Olivia Jeanmaire

Olivia has worked closely with ophthalmologists in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, providing care across retinal health, glaucoma, and complex paediatric needs. She is passionate about empowering people through functional vision care.

You can self-refer or be referred by your GP, ophthalmologist, or eye health provider.
