Host a Collection Dog

August 20, 2018

Your loose change can make a positive change

Our iconic Collection Dogs have been the cornerstone of our fundraising for over fifty years and they continually help us to raise the much needed funds we rely on. There are thousands of hard working Collections Dogs all over the state and their income contributes directly to our specialised programs.

We receive less than 10% of our funding from the government, so we rely heavily on the generosity of individual donors, supporters and businesses. Everyone who “feeds” one of our Collection Dogs through making a donation is making a positive change to a Queenslanders who have low or no vision.

Can you give a Collection Dog a home?

You can support Guide Dogs at no cost by hosting a Collection Dog. All you need is a little spare space on your counter or floor at your business or workplace, and we’ll provide all of the maintenance and support you need.

Small Dogs

Our small Collection Dogs are designed to sit on counters near point of sale in convenience stores, newsagents, butchers, bakeries, pharmacies, vet clinics, groomers and any other small businesses. Being only 28cm tall, they are the same height as our precious pups when they are just 4 weeks old!

Large Dogs

Our large Collection Dogs are 85cm in height and are perfect for high volume traffic areas like in supermarkets, clubs, pet shops, stores and garden centres. You’ll need spare floor space in a populated area to give one of these guys a home!

Did you know?

All of our Collection Dogs are Golden Labradors, labelled with the Guide Dogs Queensland logo, our web address and phone number. Any other coloured dogs in Queensland belong to another organisation.

Why host a Collection Dog?

  • You’ll be associated with supporting Australia’s Most Trusted Charity brand
  • You’ll be showing your support for a local cause that makes a difference in your community
  • Collection Dogs grab the attention of your customers (especially the dog lovers!)
  • We provide all of the maintenance and regularly collect and clean the dogs. All collectors will present an official Guide Dogs Queensland identification badge before removing the dog or any of its contents.

What are you waiting for?

Contact us to adopt a Collection Dog and we’ll look after the rest. It’s even been trained to sit and stay – all you have to do now is name your dog!
